Luminance
Luminance was shot at Big Bear Lake in West Virginia. The lake is surrounded by camp grounds housing small trailers, campers, and RV's. Photographing my neighbors camper, the shoot was designed to capture the rugged beauty within this hidden sub-culture. Consisting of thousands of plots, the camp houses some 8,000 people at the height of the summer. The residents putt around in their golf carts, swim in the large lake, and enjoy cooking out in their extensively decorated lots. Sporting string lights of all shapes and sizes, my photos barley do Big Bear justice. Each trailer one-ups the next, with beautiful light displays decorating the elegantly tacky homes. Big Bear serves as an escape from the real world, redefining a relaxing afternoon around the fire, and truly capturing the unique sub-culture of rural West Virginia.
